So, I booted to the CentOS 5. It isn't a panic, yet. I'd just like to know why I can't do this. What happened to the BIOS? Thanks, owa. This is completely baffling. Does anyone have a clue what might be going on?

But it should be the same, I think, either way. Here is the device. Now, I'll boot from the CentOS install media, and write out the same information, and post back in a little while. Actually, my machine dual-boots just fine.

Boot-repair throws an error too, with the txt file apparently having some invalid characters - pastebin. Always the same grub-install error. Assume it's something to do with the original legacy-enabled install and, erm, me. I ended up fixing it by re-installing in Legacy mode successfully and manually install grub-efi by doing the following from Can I install in UEFI mode with the alternate installer?
After the installation, reboot the computer into a live CD or any Linux CD that can mount the hard drive partitions. Then, do the following: replace with appropriate partition numbers. Ubuntu Community Ask! Sign up to join this community. GRUB can only be installed in this setup by using blocklists. EFI variables are not supported on this system. Now I can boot the old install from its own grub-menu.
